Satellites Programme 2017 Announcement

17 October 2016

Collective is delighted to announce its Satellites Programme 2017 selected participants are Timothea Armour, Alex Impey, Adam Lewis Jacob, Grace Johnston and Ross Little.

Satellites Programme is Collective’s development programme for emergent artists based in Scotland. The programme is specifically developed to facilitate artists at this pivotal point in their career through peer review, professional development, exhibitions and events. Selected through an open submission by a new panel each year, 2017 selectors were Petra Bauer, artist and filmmaker; Bryony Bond, Creative Director, The Tetley; and Tom O’Sullivan, artist.

Running over one year, the programme is structured around a series of new exhibitions and projects developed by the practitioners, coupled with regular group activity facilitated by artist James N Hutchinson. The 2017 programme launched with three days of workshops this October at Old Observatory House on Calton Hill. Activities included: a discussion around originality led by artist Stephen Sutcliffe; a performance rehearsal by artist Shona Macnaughton; cooking collectively; a talk on 'inbetweeness' by James N Hutchinson; and tour of the Scottish National Galleries of Modern Art with curator Julie-Ann Delaney. Later in the year the group will travel to Rotterdam for a second retreat, with public exhibitions and projects beginning in 2017.
