Join Our Board

Collective is seeking a lawyer or someone with experience in the legal profession to join our board as we move towards opening the redeveloped City Observatory on Calton Hill as a world-class contemporary visual arts space in Summer 2018. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to an ambitious charity at an exciting time as we seek to create a new kind of city observatory for Edinburgh and Scotland.

As we move into this new phase in Collective’s development, launching our opening programme and operating in a historic site with diversified income strands, we are particularly keen to recruit a board member with experience in law and a range of private and business networks. This appointment will complement our current board whose expertise includes visual art, business, finance, marketing, education, architecture, voluntary sector and governance.

Board members are directors of the company and trustees of the charity and play a vital role in the governance of Collective. During this critical time of development, they are particularly engaged in risk management and fundraising and provide support to Collective’s skilled management team. Board members are expected to attend meetings, some Collective events, participate in sub-committees, advocate for Collective and support fundraising and staff.

Collective engages widely with diverse communities and we are keen that board membership reflects this diversity.

If you are interested in our mission and think you can contribute as a board member, please email Chair, Anne Bonnar or call 0131 225 7677 for an informal and confidential exploratory discussion.
