Collective is seeking up to four new board members to join us at this exciting time, as we move towards opening the redeveloped City Observatory on Calton Hill as a world-class contemporary visual arts space in early 2018. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to an ambitious charity seeking to create a new kind of city observatory for Edinburgh and Scotland.
As we transition into this new phase in Collective’s development, launching our opening programme and operating in an historic site with diversified income strands, we are particularly keen to recruit board members with a range of private and business networks and experience in commercial enterprise, estate management and philanthropy. These appointments will complement our current Board whose expertise includes visual art, business, finance, marketing, education, architecture, voluntary sector and governance. Board members are directors of the company and trustees of the charity and play a vital role in the governance of Collective. During this critical time of development, they are particularly engaged in risk management and fundraising and in providing support to Collective’s skilled management team. Board members are expected to attend meetings, some Collective events, participate in sub-committees, advocate for Collective and support fundraising and staff.
Collective engages widely with diverse communities and we are keen that board membership reflects this diversity. More information, including the summary terms of reference can be downloaded here.
If you are interested in our mission and think you can contribute as a board member, please contact Chair, Anne Bonnar via [email protected] or 0131 225 7677 for an informal and confidential exploratory discussion by 1 December 2017.
